Developed by two-time Philippine National Barista Champion and World Barista Championship Semi-Finalist (2019 & 2025) Michael Harris Conlin, and co-created with his son Liam Conlin, who was just 14 years old at the time, the Better Vessel represents a collaboration across generations of curiosity and craftsmanship.
This unique tool allows both coffee professionals and enthusiasts to appreciate the beauty of crema while enjoying a cleaner, smoother, and sweeter cup with reduced bitterness and harshness.
Now available in a durable food grade injection-moulded production version, engineered for consistency, durability, and everyday use in both professional cafés and home espresso setups.
How the Better Vessel Works
Crema contains emulsified oils and microbubbles that can contribute bitterness and harshness to espresso.
The Better Vessel allows baristas to:

Pull espresso directly into the vessel.

Allow the crema to naturally rise to the top.

Release the espresso from the bottom using the precision ball-lock valve.
Because the valve releases espresso from beneath the crema layer, the crema remains in the vessel while the clarified espresso flows out.

Cleaning & Care
To keep performance consistent and flavors pristine:
• Rinse immediately after each use with warm water.
• Disassemble the ball lock and gasket (optional) and rinse thoroughly.
• Hand-wash using mild, unscented dish soap.
• Avoid abrasives and scouring pads.
• For deeper cleaning, soak components in diluted espresso-equipment cleaner and rinse well.
• Allow all parts to air dry completely before reassembly.
Do not place in the dishwasher, microwave, or expose to boiling water or extreme heat.
Inspect gaskets regularly and replace when worn to maintain a proper seal.
